How to Draw a Flower Cluster

How to Draw a Flower Cluster

Step 1

First, we need to start out with a circle. Draw a circle anywhere on your canvas that you’d like as we can rearrange it later if needed.

Step 2

Good job! Now, let’s create a new layer and add another circle on that layer. Pro tip: draw a circle and then without lifting your Apple Pencil, use your other hand to tap on the iPad. This will change your shape into a true circle.

Step 3

Now you’ll want to create a third layer and draw a third circle. Once you have 3 circles that are different sizes you can move them around to a grouping that pleases you like below.

Step 4

We’re getting somewhere now. Let’s clean up those overlapping shapes by deleting parts of the circles and create a bit of depth between our three circles.

Step 5

Our 3 circles represent the outer circle of our flowers, or in other words, the container of our flowers. Time to define our first flower. Let’s draw an oval or circle shape in the middle of it.

Step 6

Draw a couple petals in whatever way you feel like. I chose something pretty simple below and have overlapped past our circle because I want to fill up as much of the outer circle as I can w/ the petals.

Step 7

Continue drawing your petals around the flower.

Step 8

Time to start on flower number 2! Draw your flower center.

Step 9

Again we’re going to test out how we want our petals to look and draw just a couple.

Step 10

Continue drawing your petals around the flower. I overlapped the front petals on the center of the flower to create a little more depth. We’ll clean that up later on.

Step 11

Let’s have a little fun and draw some details in our flower center.

Step 12

WOOHOO, we made it to the final flower. Time to draw the center of this one.

Step 13

I drew in some heart shaped petals for this one, but feel free to make yours pointed or more squiggly.

Step 14

Finish your petals and you’ll start to see the whole picture coming together now.

Step 15

Let’s clean up some of our lines on that second flower and turn off the layer that showed our 3 circles.

Step 16

Now you can add in some peekaboo leaves in the white spaces between the three flowers. And lastly you can color your sketch! Actually, that’s not last. I’d LOVE it if you shared your artwork with me. See Step 17.

Step 17

Share your work with me on Instagram, pretty please. I’d love to see what your sketch looks like and how you colored it. Tag me in your post (@mollymariepea) and use the hashtag #drawwithmmp so I can be sure to see your creation.

Happy drawing!
